December 28, 2007 marked the fifteenth anniversary of the foundation of the former Ballet Ecarte now Masterpiece Dance Theatre. In attendance on this auspicious day in 1992 were: Oleg Vinogradov, Artistic Director of the Kirov Ballet, Gennadi Shreyber, General Administrator of the Kirov Ballet, Igor Zelensky, Premier Danseur of the Kirov Ballet and sixty other members of the company. In addition, the former Mayor of Culver City proclaimed that Ballet Ecarte was a Culver City treasure and officiated at the opening ceremonies. It should be noted that Nadya Koscuik is one of only five people born in the west ever to train at the Kirov during the "cold war" and consequently her driving passion has been to pass this great training and legacy on to talented dancers who aspire to a professional career in dance. The Vaganova syllabus is world famous for its built-in "injury prevention" methodology. There is only one officially registered and endorsed Vaganova ballet program in the United States, and that is located in Los Angeles, California at Masterpiece Dance Theatre taught exclusively by ballet masters, Nadya and Golden Koscuik.
